You can use the cold sore patch at any stage of a cold sore.
However, it is best to apply it when the first signs of a fever appear, usually a tingling or itching sensation.
How to apply the patch
1. Wash your hands. Ensure your skin is clean and dry. Do not use with any cream, as the patch may not adhere to the lesion and may not provide the full benefits of the product.
2. Remove the applicator from its packaging and hold it by the ends with both hands.
3. Gently pull both ends in the direction indicated by the arrows on the applicator until half of the adhesive side is exposed. Be careful not to touch the adhesive side of the patch.
4. Gently press the exposed half of the patch with your finger until it is firmly attached to the cold sore.
5. Slowly pull the applicator end downward, away from the skin with a smooth motion until the patch detaches from the applicator. Makeup or lipstick may be applied over the patch.
How to remove the patch
1. If the patch is still attached, there's no need to remove or replace it. When it starts to come away from the skin, remove it and replace it with a new one.
2. To remove the patch, peel off the end.
3. Hold the peeled end of the patch with both hands.
4. Stretch the patch horizontally, separating your hands as you peel it off.
