This aerial plant prefers the low mountains of southern Europe and calcareous soils. It resists the cold and bears pale violet flowers arranged in loose spikes at the tips of long stems. Flowering and harvesting are later than those of lavender. Lavender provides an essential oil known as "emergency" because it will be "miraculous" in relieving and almost instantly healing severe burns and wasp stings. If you happen to need it in these circumstances, it will have proven that aromatherapy is a true medicine.
