Homocyateine is an amino acid found in the blood that can accumulate in arterial walls, which can lead to an increased risk of both cardiovascular and brain diseases.
Serological homocysteine levels are between 5-15 mol/L (molecular concentration/Liter), therefore a level greater than 16 mol/L is classified as hyperhomocysteinemia.
Homocysteine levels can be increased due to factors such as age, gender (more predominant in men), genetics and especially diet.
In particular, vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid are important factors in the metabolism (breakdown) of homocysteine, and so a deficiency of these vitamins in the diet can lead to increased plasma homocysteine levels.
Vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid work together to break down excess homocysteine in the body, reducing the risk of buildup in the arteries. Therefore, those at risk of having high circulating blood levels of homocysteine would benefit from supplementing with vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid by reducing blood levels within a correct range.
How to use: Do not exceed the daily dose of 1 capsule.
